Lavender and Meyer Lemon Curd Cupcakes
last week i had a lovely girls lunch at my house on the back deck. we enjoyed these lavender and lemon curd cupcakes for dessert.

these cupcakes are so light and delish with a burst of summer flavors. there’s nothing like lemon and lavender together.
i used sweetapolita’s recipe with just a few minor changes. instead of dried lavender, i used a tablespoon or so of fresh from my garden. it works great, but you do need to steep the flowers in the cream overnight. the frosting is a beautiful infused lavender buttercream, so it’s very mild in the lavender flavor. i loved it that way. steep the lavender longer if you desire more of a lavender taste.
i made the meyer lemon curd the night before so you do need to prep ahead, but it’s totally worth the extra effort. and next time, i think i’ll fill the cupcakes with the lemon curd instead of topping. the frosting was sliding right off the top and gave me a mini heart attack every time. oh, and the curd deserves a blog post all on it’s own. so good!
